Well, went to Walkera's website on the off chance of a new update for the Devo6. When I went there I found there is a new update, labeled Devo 6S. It looks like you need the new S module for the upgrade from my translation, but that to me means you CAN get a new module for the Devo 6. I always heard it was the 8 and 12 up for that ugrade. I can only find the 8S telemetry module atm but i'm assuming one for the 6 is coming?
I don't know what all is involved with the update, I assume just the telemetry upgrade, but if anyone has any more info, please share it hear. Here's the quote from the Walkera site:

Note:
1.It is a must to update both the program and library documents, othersise the radio or the icon wont work well.
2.The original DEVO6 radio cant upgrade to DEVO 6 with upgrade telemetry function version software directly unless change the original DEVO6 module into DEVO 6 module with ◇ signal . Because of the limitation to the distance in the original DEVO6 radio.
