I went from a S110G co-axiel small indoor heli to double horse 9053. The 9053 MUST have mods done etc or it wont fly worth a crap. Here I learned what wind can do to the heli and how to handle it. While flying the 9053 I grinded hours and hours on heli-x40 simulator with dynam rc tech 6ch transmitter. A simulator is a must imo because I found out quickly watching someone else get turned off from the sport by crashing and spending 50.00 every flight. So I am careful not to wreck and get pissed off lol.
I then wanted something better so I chose the Blade SR. All I can say is its awesome. Scooted around basement the first 5 batterys. I then took it to a hoover for 2 batterys in the basement and hit something of course and broke blades and swash plate. 25.00 and lesson learned later i knew I had to get out of the dirty air close to the floor. Took it outside today with a tad bit of wind. Popped it up about 3 ft ... The tail held great with a little hold on my part(not perfect at setting it up yet) and it did great. So stable etc after changing blades, and swash plate with little knowledge. Tracked blades best I could it seems ok. Was even able to do 360's with the tail 2-3 times and some foward/back flight first battery outside!! Im having awesome progess and im so glad after all that time on the simulator lol.
I started using syma heli's ... imo their very durable and easy to afford. http://www.bladehelis.com/Helis/ Theres the Blade heli's which are the best quality I have seen.
