Extra Channel for Free???

So, question for anyone that knows:

If you choose not to use the Aux or Gear channels for your tail and / or cyclic gain, does that free up an extra channel?:confused:

For example, I us a DX7 and have the tail gain locked and have the cyclic bank set to Aux 2. Gear is gear for retracts. If I lock the cyclic gain (I don't use SL), does that free up another channel for lights / accessories?

I don't really need it, just wondering.
