Hi,
I have just purchased a CopterX 450 Pro Torque Tube RTF 2.4G. However, on the first flight or 'hover' I went a bit too close to the box it came in and one of the rotor blades hit it, causing minor damage to the blade itself. Everything seemed fine but after a little while longer of playing with the throttle a clicking noise started, it gets quite noisy too!
When testing by manually turning the blades by hand, it would appear that when turning the main blade by hand the rear doesn't turn. However, turning the rear makes them both turn! It would also appear that one of the gears may be binding with another causing resistance as when turning the blades manually, every now and again it gets jammed and you have to turn back then forwards again for the rotation to continue.Something else worth noting is that from the first time I started it, white powder was showing where the lower main gear was touching the carbon body. I resolved this issue by filing the carbon by 1mm (ish)
Now, when starting and trying the throttle on the ground, the rear rotor will sometimes stop spinning. The noise will then go away, so when the main blades are spinning everything is fine. This therefore points to the rear gears again.
So, what is going on here?? Have I buggered it up already? Would this have been a factory fault?
I completed all the pre flight checks as instructed in the manual. (However I admit I didn't check everything was tight) I am reluctant to take this apart as it is so new. Any ideas/ advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Andy.
