Something for you guys with newer WOW BL PNP kits to watch out for.......

I just got done working on a guys mCPX that he converted to brushless using a recent version of WOW hobbies PNP kit. He was having intermittent motor problems that became terminal. WOW has started connecting the positive, negative and signal outputs of ESC to the convertor via three pins. The older kits would connect the ESC to The Steve with wires and stick them together with servo tape.

The new design is all fine an good on the converter because the pin goes through the board on both sides and is soldered on both sides but not on the ESC. The pins are just soldered to the pads on the PC board thus elevating or separating the two boards. They have done nothing to support the other side of the convertor board so the PC pads of the ESC are basically supporting the weight of the convertor. Well with the vibration from fly and crashing, the pads peeled away from the PC board and eventualy broke the trace,

So all you guys who have this version, you might want to put some foam between the two boards to prevent this problem.

Just a heads up,

Craig
