I loved the idea of the OMI fuel magnet and also the way it functions. Unfortunately I've had 2 disintegrate on me and the last one lasted less than 6 months. I keep the fuel tank full and using the O.S. 91 with backplate pressure means there are never any exhaust fumes in contact with the sponge. I replace my fuel lines yearly and consider it preventative maintenance but I don't think it is smart to have something in the fuel tank that I know will disintegrate this quickly and cause the engine to quit.
For now I'm going to try the Lynx clunk. Their website states it is made of a synthetic fiber. Hopefully it will last longer than the sponge.
I'm going to try an experiment and put a Walbro clunk in the nitro I need to drain because it became contaminated when the last fuel magnet disintegrated. I'm going to let it sit for a few months to see if there is any effect on the felt. Felt is pretty impervious to a lot of chemicals so I'm hoping this might be a cost effective replacement for the sponge.
Has anyone has ever tried the Walbro felt clunk in a Nitro machine?
