I bought my first helicopter (a Blade 450) about a month ago and I've been looking for something to carry it in. I've seen the EXI 450 case listed on a few web sites, but nobody seems to have one in stock.
So I decided to build my own. Check it out.
The body of the case is made from 1/2" hemlock and 1/4" birch plywood. The inside is painted with black acrylic enamel and the whole thing is finished with water-based polyurethane. I never could find a handle I liked, so I sewed one out of some nylon webbing and attached it with hardware store mending plates. The interior is carved out of packing foam I salvaged from work.
I haven't figured out exactly what I want to do with the extra space yet. Maybe batteries, tools and parts. There's probably room in there for an mCPX, too.
