Hey all! Just registered here, forums are always part of the hobby. I own for a month an mcpx with dx6i (which i got bored easily) and for a year or so an e-revo brushless. Being active on the traxxas forums all the time and spending tons of cash on it. Time to go even deeper.
I am receiving any day now the kx015080 combo (trex 450 pro v2 3gx) to bind with my dx6i. I love the thing, i didnt want to go clone no way... I have been spending ALL week reading manuals, forums and watching videos about assembling it, setting up the 3gx, setting up the dx6i etc. I learned a lot (assembling procedures, locktite, grease, bearings, cabling - dir setup, ail elev setup, gyro setup...) I still have some questions that really need a simple answer... I am having headackes everytime i spend 3 hours reading.
Correct me if i am wrong here, i initially want to make a basic mode 2 flying setup (no 3d, negative pitch etc) and i really want to make it perfect:
1. i assemble the heli properly (that i understood) and do the connections with the rx. i also get it why you need a 7ch tx if you dont use an rx (gyro gain @ 7th 3gx channel...)
2. do i have to set the 90 degrees to all servos while assembling by using the rod supplied and the subtrim menu on the dx6i or i just leave it at 0?
3. before i start the dir etc.3gx setup must i set up first the dx6i? (heli type, expo and travel, curves, swash type..)
4. i have completly understood the throttle-pitch curves, and the aile-elev-rudd expo and max travel. it seems i must put ccpm 120 swash type... do i need to set anything else regarding the ccpm or leave it as is?
5. What exactly does the dual rate combi do?? is it ok off?
6. Do i need to set swash mix? mix 1 2 and gyro mix? (i didnt understand what they do either)
7. What initial % value i put to the GYRO setting? (sw-gyro mode selected right?) Is messing with this setting the same as messing with the gyro trimmer on the 3gx? or the 3gx trimmers are aileron-elevator settings?
8. A general pitch-throttle curve question: lets suppose someone sets the throttle L-100 1-80 2-70 3-80 H-100 (approx..for 3d). should the pitch curve remain 0-100 linear again?
9. To mechanically fix the blades pitch for the first time, what is the procedure? have the throttle/pitch stick to 0 and set blades to 0? there i am a little lost. and do i only set the 0 value?
